Meet The Speakers

Tim Bechtel Business Development Leader

Tim has been in the corrosion industry since 2009 working as a contractor on projects throughout the United States. These projects ranged from installing cathodic protection systems, leak detection, coating inspection, and coating remediation. In April of 2018, Tim moved over to Dairyland Electrical Industries, which if you don’t know, manufactures devices that improve cathodic protection systems and also address common grounding and safety issues. As a Business Development Leader, Tim, answers questions from around the world that involve issues ranging from decoupling facilities to improve cp systems, addressing unbalanced loads on electric distribution facilities affecting the dairy industry, galvanic isolation in the marine industry, rail issues, and so on. Tim received his bachelor’s from Central Michigan University in 1992 and his MBA in 2019. Tim is a NACE certified CP 2 and a CIP 3. Outside of work, Tim enjoys running long distances and has completed over forty marathons and two ultra-marathons. Read Bio.

Tony Castillo Business Development Leader

Tony joined Dairyland Electrical Industries, the world’s leading manufacturer of solid-stat decoupling products used to isolate cathodically protected structures from grounding systems, in 2014 as Electrical Design Engineer where he focused on new product design, product research, product testing, and application support. Recently, he transitioned to Business Development with a focus on international markets. When not in the office, Tony enjoys road and mountain biking, time with family and anything related with cars. Jay Warner Senior Business Development Leader

In his role as Senior Business Development Leader, Jay helps customers apply Dairyland’s solid-state decoupler technology to corrosion protection systems within energy, utility, marine and rail industries. Jay graduated from Purdue University with degrees in Mechanical Engineering and has a background in control systems across a variety of industries. He and others from Dairyland promote technical awareness of isolation and grounding issues for cathodically protected systems. When not helping customers apply decoupler solutions, Jay enjoys hiking, biking and pretty much anything outdoors. Read Bio.

Phil Eggen Senior Business Development Leader

Phil has over 20 years of pipeline engineering experience, with the last 15 in integrity management and corrosion engineering.  His experience was initiated at Nicor Gas as a Corrosion Manager overseeing 24,000 miles of steel pipe and then continued with EN Engineering where he managed the Corrosion Engineering Team for 6 years.  Phil is now at Dairyland Electrical Industries where he is helping customers solve AC mitigation and station decoupling issues.    Phil has been active in NACE for over 10 years through the local section and through the NACE National Meetings.  He has also served on the American Gas Association (AGA) corrosion committee.  Phil is a registered Professional Engineer in Illinois and holds a NACE CP2-Cathodic Protection Technician certificate.  Phil is an avid outdoorsman where he enjoys duck hunting, deer hunting, bicycle riding, and golf.  Phil volunteers with his church, the Boy Scouts and Ducks Unlimited.
